Hon. Lady Justice Solomy Balungi Bossa Appointed to the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

During the 34th Ordinary Session of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, from 8th to 19 September 2014,  Hon. Lady Justice Solomy Balungi Bossa and two other newly elected Judges were sworn-in at the Court’s seat in Arusha Tanzania.

The new members of the Court were\r\nelected at the 25th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and appointed by\r\nthe 23rd Assembly of Heads of State of the African Union in Malabo, Equatorial\r\nGuinea, June 2014. The newly elected members of the Court are Hon. Justice\r\nRafaa Ben Achour (Tunisia), Hon. Lady Justice Solomy Balungi Bossa (Uganda) and\r\nHon. Justice Angelo Vasco Matusse (Mozambique). They were elected for a\r\nsix-year term. The new judges replaced Justice Sophia A. B. Akuffo (Ghana), the\r\nformer President of the Court; Justice Bernard M. Ngoepe (South Africa), the\r\nformer Vice President and Justice Kimelabalou Aba (Togo).
